All summer long, the dry and warm weather has been good for our seedless table grape trial. A couple of varieties did experience some winter injury (Marquis and Thomcord were the most damaged), but most made it through unscathed. They have taken off and grown very vigorously through the season, even without supplemental irrigation.
We could not resist leaving a couple of clusters on the most vigorous vines, and they are looking very nice. The variety ‘Reliance’, in particular, has a very good fruit set, on very full clusters. ‘Mars’ is just reaching veraison – the fruits are just starting to turn color – and we are all getting excited about evaluating the fruits later in the fall.
